David Becker, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of First Internet Bank of Indiana (First IB), will serve as 2003 Chairman of TechPoint, an organization designed to serve Indiana’s technology-related industries. He will assume his responsibilities while remaining active in his role at First IB.
The result of a January 1, 2003 merger between the Indiana Information Technology Association (INITA) and the Indiana Technology Partnership (ITP), TechPoint will combine advocacy, economic development, and member services and programming. Its board of directors has been drawn from areas around the state and represents companies from several technology industries, as well as academia, government, and firms and organizations that work with technology companies.
Becker’s 20 years of experience in Indiana technology initiatives played a key role in his appointment. “We could not ask for a better person to lead this new organization than David Becker,” said Donna Gastevich, current president of INITA. “TechPoint and the entire technology community will benefit from his extensive business successes, his understanding of the state’s technology issues, and his energy and enthusiasm.” Gastevich will become president of TechPoint.
Having served on the boards of both ITP and the INITA Foundation, Becker is familiar with the work of both organizations and is anxious to further those endeavors at TechPoint. “At a time when there is tremendous focus and attention on the technology sector, TechPoint has the opportunity to be a unified voice for technology-related initiatives throughout the state,” Becker said.
